A way to make black foam core boards at home is to simply purchase any type of foam core boards you can get yours hands on, may they be styrofoams or blown urethane. The way you would want to go about this would be to purchase some cheap latex paint - any color will do - and simply paint the foam board using a roller. After you’re done painting your foam board, you can glue them together using some silicone sealant.

Black foam core boards are good for virtually any type of mounting - including floating art in dimensional framing.
